FAQ
-
What do we need for the session?Children need to have long hair tied back and closed shoes. Loose clothing such as drawstrings on hoodies should not be worn or must be carefully tucked in. Other than that you just need to bring yourself! If your child is noise sensitive then some ear defenders may be useful.
-
What safety wear is provided? We will provide safety glasses and a hi-vis jacket for the younger children.
-
What are parents/carers required to do during the sessions? You are there to facilitate and keep your child safe! The sessions are great for quality time and collaboration between adult and child. You will problem solve, share ideas and work together like never before!! This is not a group where you can sit and scroll on your phone whilst your child plays! (nothing wrong with having a break, but this isn't the group for that!!)
-
What if I am rubbish at craft and DIY?!Then you will be much better by the end of the hour!! We are there to assist and help with ideas as well as the skills. Over a few sessions we have watched adults and children grow hugely in confidence, to the point where parents who started off very unsure and unconfident, are helping and coaching other new starters!
-
Is this safe for my child?Risk is everywhere, teaching your child to minimise risk by thinking, following rules and instructions, is very important in life. We have done careful risk assessments, we are DBS checked and have completed the recommended safeguarding and paediatric first-aid courses. If safety instructions are followed then woodwork is a low risk activity.
-
How can I book?To book either click the link on the contact page or on one of the images for the different sessions. This will take you to our booking website where you can select classes and pay online.
-
What happens if I can't make the session that I book? Our terms and conditions state that we need at least 48 hours notice to cancel a session. This is because we book the space and buy the resources for each session and if we don't have enough participants the session can quickly become unviable. Where possible, in the case of illness I would try to find someone on the wait list to fill the space, so that I can move your session to another week.
-
Can I block book?We prefer block bookings as it allows the child and carer to develop and progress with the different skills we teach. It also allows for relationships to develop within the group and friendships to be made! If you can only make the odd session or want to try before committing, then we also offer trial sessions and drop-ins where there are spaces.
